Social Science Research Council Funding for predissertation, dissertation, and postdoctoral research that supports innovative knowledge production and the building of research capacity in areas of critical social importance.
The Wenner-Gren Foundation Funding for dissertation research in anthropology, must be enrolled in a Ph.D. program.
Fulbright Hays This program provides grants to colleges and universities to fund individual doctoral students who conduct research in other countries, in modern foreign languages and area studies for periods of six to 12 months.
Graduate Women in Science Grants for research in anthropology, must be a member of Sigma Delta Epsilon.
MacArthur Program on Human and Community Development This program funds research with significant implications for effecting change.  In support of practical interventions, the program gives priority to projects that are likely to yield lasting improvements after a period of Foundation support.  Funds go mainly to institutions.

The Lewis and Clark Fund for Exploration and Field Research The Lewis and Clark Fund encourages exploratory field studies for the collection of specimens and data and to provide the imaginative stimulus that accompanies direct observation. Applications are invited from disciplines with a large dependence on field studies, such as archeology, anthropology, biology, ecology, geography, geology, linguistics, paleontology, and population genetics, but grants will not be restricted to these fields.
