Dr. Goldstein’s 900 page, award winning “A History of Modern Tibet, Volume 1, 1913-1951: The Demise of the Lamaist State” (U. California Press, 1989) is now available in Tibetan. This two volume Tibetan edition was translated by the well known Tibetan scholar T.N. Shelling, who worked at CWRU’s Center for Research on Tibet for many years. It was published in 2018 by the Songtsen Library, Dehradun, India. Tibetan translations of Volumes 2 and 3 of Goldstein’s “History of Modern Tibet” series are in progress. Volume 4 of this series had been accepted for publication by the U. of California Press, and will appear in 2019.
