Dr. Haas received her undergraduate degree in Anthropology from NYU, an MS in Social Administration from CWRU, and her PhD in Anthropology from University of California, San Diego. Her research interests include medical and psychological anthropology; refugee and immigrant health/mental health; political asylum; global mental health; culture and mental health; trauma; immigration policy and health outcomes; families and children; child well-being; and health disparities. She has been engaged in multi-year research with migrant and refugee families in the U.S., including a current project with Congolese refugees in Cleveland. She has a new book forthcoming: Suspended Lives: Seeking Asylum in the United States.
