Moving Beyond Paleofantasies:  Reconstructing Unknown Diets

October 6, 2017

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Mather Memorial 201 | Reception to follow

ABOUT THE LECTURE:

Everyone eats and what we eat is often thought of as normal or the right way to do it. Familiarity can cause our diets to be easily taken for granted. But, what are humans supposed to eat and what was eaten in the past? In this talk, we will explore how stable isotope analysis can uncover unexpected diets and lead to a more nuanced understanding of past human foodways by exploring a case study from Medieval Fishergate House.
