Dr. Rynkiewich is a medical anthropologist working as a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Anthropology. Dr. Rynkiewich has research interests in the structures of care surrounding infectious diseases in North American medical institutions including the social dynamics of antibiotic prescribing among healthcare practitioners. Her research draws on theoretical traditions in medical anthropology, science and technology studies, and the cultural study of institutions. Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Rynkiewich received a PhD in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from The University of Chicago.
Dr. Rynkiewich teaches courses on the anthropology of infectious diseases, medical anthropology, qualitative methods, and global health.
